Do You See Jesus?

Today is Palm Sunday

Our parish here in Alabama observes Passiontide, which means they cover the crucifixes and statues in the Church starting last Sunday. I’ve seen Passiontide described as a fast for the eyes. Here’s more information about Passiontide from Catholic Answers: https://www.catholic.com/encyclopedia/passiontide

I was at Stations of the Cross Friday night and noticed that you could kind of see through the coverings and I could see Jesus on the large crucifix above and behind our altar. I thought it was good that we could still see Him there. Jesus should always be visible to us, especially as we approach Good Friday.

I started thinking about our need to keep Jesus in front of us and in our hearts and minds, even during Lent and Holy Week. What if those Crucifixes were gone? How long would it be before we started to forget about Him? We would be tempted to say I would never forget about Jesus. Really? Peter said something pretty similar to that in today’s Gospel. We all sometimes deny Jesus in our actions. Keeping Jesus in our sights seems a good way to stay close to Him.

I hope during this Holy time, and especially this week, we can all keep Jesus in our sights and truly love as He loves.

That’s it for now. Thanks for reading.

I hope you have a great Holy Week.

Peace, Bob
