All Things Catholic and Then Some

Pray Always

Today is the twenty-ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time.

In today’s Gospel, as well as the first reading really, we hear about turning to God at all times. We don’t just mention something in prayer in passing, we concentrate on it and make sure God knows our wishes. Of course he already knows us. As I mentioned recently he knows us better than we know ourselves but He seems to like us to ask for what we need and not just assume that he knows. As Bishop Barron explained God seems to want us to ask and expand our hearts so we better appreciate what He does for us.

When we ask for something in the midst of praise, contrition, and thanksgiving, our well rounded prayer life lets God know that we not only ask for things abut are attentive to the various aspects of our relationship with Him.

Part of today’s readings is a reminder that we depend on God for all things. It’s important that we remember that and act accordingly. In our daily life think of all the little things we rely on God for. It’s not just the big things. I hope we can remember the lesson of today’s readings and make a point to acknowledge our dependence on God and pray like we really need His involvement in our day to day lives, because we really do.

That’s it for now. Thanks for reading.

I hope you have a great, and prayerful, week.

Peace, Bob
