All Things Catholic and Then Some

He is Risen. Alleluia!

Today is Easter Sunday.

That first Easter must have been very strange for those earliest believers. After having their Rabbi, who had claimed divinity for Himself, put to death in the most horrible way imaginable, His tomb was empty, but there were signs of something supernatural happening.

The burial garments were still there and were neatly folded. Depending on the Gospel account you read there were angels there telling those who came that He had risen and was alive.

Later in the day, on the road to Emmaus, two disciples encountered Him but didn’t recognize Him. They later would recognize Him, along with the others, in the Upper Room, when He broke the Bread.

In the most amazing turn of events Jesus overcame death and sin and rose from the dead. He did this for you and for me. The question for us now is what do we do with that great gift.

Last night we baptized about 25 people and received about 50 more from various Christian faith traditions into the Church. Regardless of the numbers it’s always a beautiful thing to see the faith of these new Catholics.

On this Easter Sunday I hope you give thanks to God for all the gifts He’s given us, but mostly the Gift of His Son.

He is Risen. Alleluia!

That’s it for now. Thanks for reading.

I hope you have a great week.

Peace, Bob
