Today is the fourth Sunday of Lent.
The Year C Gospel reading for today is the Parable of the Prodigal Son. You may have heard that reading but, if there was a Scrutiny celebrated you may have heard the healing of the Man Born Blind from the Gospel of John.
I encourage you to read Jn 9 and then pray this adapted version of the prayer that is prayed over the Elect who are preparing for baptism at the Easter Vigil.
“Most merciful Father, who granted the man born blind to believe in your Son, and through this faith to come to the kingdom of your light, grant also that I may be freed from deceits that surround and blind me, so that, firmly grounded in the truth, I may become a child of light and remain so for ever.
Through Christ our Lord.”
This past week in our parish we had a mission featuring three Dominican priests associated with the Angelicum in Rome. On the last day and evening of the mission was a Eucharistic healing service. It was a reminder to me that Jesus not only healed the Man Born Blind, as well as others, but is still healing us today.
Blessed Sacrament has a wonderful gift of an Adoration Chapel. Lent is a great time to take advantage of it and to spend time with Jesus. It’s also a great time to ask Him to heal you of whatever is weighing you down.
That’s it for now. Thanks for reading.
I hope you have a great week.
Peace, Bob
